Space Battle - Pitch Image & Ship Iterations

This was the process I took to designing a space fighter ship to go with my pitch image.
On the pitch image I had designed ships with random shapes, and this was an opportunity to flesh them out. In the past I considered vehicle design to be outside of my comfort zone - I think I've proved myself wrong!

Ultimately, the final design took ideas from the iterations as a collective.

The brief called for a vista of futuristic ships fighting each other in space, something that had action and was colourful.
I designed the logo too, using the 'Madura' font as the basis, and edited and stylalised from there.

Fighter Ship design A.

One of the main feedbacks that I got from my last portfolio was to include more developed and finished ideas for my designs.

I like the idea of the engines moulded into the wings.

Fighter Ship design B.

This design is based off one of the random ships I painted in the pitch image.
The idea for the holo wings appeared here.

Fighter Ship design C.

Here I started to lock down the shape I wanted for the ship, something that was less bulky or elegant - more faceted.

Fighter Ship design D.

I really liked the idea of the wings folded under, but feedback suggested that the shape looked more like a cargo-type ship.
