Archetypal Fantasy Characters - Low poly / Hand painted texture

The goal of this project is to show my abilities in character design and modelling efficiently and descriptively despite low polygon numbers, and to produce a hand-painted style of texturing.

To this end, the models have a low rate of polygons, and diffuse maps (and opacity maps were needed) only.
In the later images and SketchFab uploads other texture maps have been added to illustrate the additional detail these can provide.

Seeing as I had already designed some fantasy characters in my other low-poly project, I decided to opt for more traditionally proportioned characters, and reworked the designs as such.

There is a certain charm to low-polygon modelling, and I really enjoy it!

This is a redesign based on my previous super deformed work.
I fleshed out the details on her costume and tried to keep her facial characteristics (the long face, sad eyes and pout) intact in the final design.
A rough male variant is included.

This was rendered without shadows, simulating a model with only a diffuse map and no other maps (specular/normal).
The model uses a Biped system.

As with the Elven Archer, I redesigned this character with more realistic proportions.
The costume has been created with function rather than embellishment in mind.
A rough female variant is also included.
